Nutrition & Herbs
In this modern age, we are constantly exposed to environmental toxins such as solvents, heavy metals, plastics, dyes and pesticides. Accumulation of these toxins within the body is believed by some to lead to lowered immune function. This may be a direct or indirect result of immune suppression by the toxins, redirecting the immune system away from its primary role of maintaining microbial homoestasis. This category contains a collection of nutritional, mineral and herbal products that have been specially selected for their reputation in supporting the body's immune system under stress. Some of the products are supported by conventional clinical trials and laboratory research studies, others rely primarily upon the reputation afforded them by their traditional use. Our favourite formulas include RM10 Ultra, Beta 1-3 Glucan, BioBran and N-Tense. Further information on many of these products can be found using our "Further Resources" page
Parasite Cleanses
The "Parasite cleanse" category is not a single cleanse but rather a collection of "Parasite, Fungal & Pathogen" cleanses, created by various health researchers. Each of these cleanses aim to support the body's immune system in maintaining homeostatic balance with the pathogenic micro-organisms we are constantly exposed to. The various cleanses use herbs that have been tradtionally recommended for their antiparasitic, antifungal or antibacterial purposes, irrespective of whether these traditional uses are due to any proven direct antimicrobial effect, or indirect action by creating internal environments inconducive to their further growth. This category contains the supplements required to perform Dr Hulda Clark's Parasite Cleanse and "Mop up program", Garden of Life's "Fungal Defense", Jim Humble's "Miracle Mineral Supplement" and Ancient Herbal Remedies "Natural Cleanse". Further information on these and other cleanses are available through our Further Resources page.
Probiotics
Probiotic bacteria are good bacteria which are essential to health because they generate enzymes that assist digestion, produce B-vitamins and improve mineral absorption. Species of probiotic bacteria include Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidus bifidum. However, perhaps their most important role is as part of the immune system. In your intestines, probiotic bacteria compete for space and resources with pathogenic bacteria, helping to prevent them from establishing a foothold from which they could potentially extend to other areas of the body. However, not all probiotic supplements are created equal. Any one species of bacteria is ideally suited to living in a very specific environment. The intestines contain a range of extreme environments varying in pH, oxygen concentration and hydration. Therefore it stands to reason that to achieve protection along the entire digestive tract requires a full spectrum of probiotic bacteria, each perfectly suited to a different intestinal ecosystem. For this reason, the probiotic category contains only the best broad spectrum probiotic products.
