A high grade, cold pressed oil, certified organic by the Soil Association. Castor oil is superb for nourishing dry skin and removing stagnations from the body. Use externally with a woollen flannel as a 'castor oil' pack for cleansing, detoxification and pain relief:
1. Fold wool flannel at least once to make a pack of appropriate size. Then saturate the pack with castor oil by pouring onto it or dipping the pack in preheated oil.
2. Position the pack over the liver, abdomen or site of pain and cover with a piece of plastic and a heating pad (or hot water bottle). A towel may be useful to protect bedding from oil dripping.
3. Turn heating pad to a a low setting, or to a setting the body tolerates. Do not use heat if infection or fever is present or suspected.
4. Allow pack to remain for an hour or more. Longer applications can be useful if you avoid falling asleep with heating pad turned on.
5. After pack is removed, cleanse the treated area of skin with a solution of baking soda (1 teaspoon dissolved in a pint of water).
6. Store pack in a plastic bag or other container in a cool place when not in use. After 24 uses or less, the wool flannel should be cleaned or discarded.
7. Use for up to 3-5 days per week for 3 weeks per month until desired results are achieved.
Note: An ACE bandage can also be loosely wrapped around the pack and the body to hold the pack in place for longer periods of time.
